Cardinal Meridians: New Geometries of the Infinite
11 Apr 2012 -31 May 2012
The exhibition situates the work of five South Asian women artists whose works resonates an architectural spatiality that employ myriad media including PCB boards, computer chips, mathematical diagrams, calligraphy, scientific patterns, architectural blueprints, hot glue, thread and ceramics allowing for a new aesthetic language to emerge. The works contain a linearity, which although connects various part of their processes, offers an ambiguity or equivocally that resists any form of fixity, thereby containing an inner sense of stillness and quiet contemplation. Cardinal Meridians therefore seeks a transcendental connection with the viewer, going beyond the conventional ciphers to address the notion of infinite that embodies us.
