Kal / Tomorrow Monographic exhibition of Anita Dube
27 Nov 2010 -31 Jan 2011
In her monographic exhibition Kal/ Tomorrow, Anita Dube meditates on the notion of contemporeanity by challenging the linearity of time. Writing Kal-Kaal-Kala-Kaala in Devnagari, a slippage between words is made visible through the alternation of accents that spell conceptual shifts between their etymologies. In this body of word-works, she maintains her engagement with the found-object and textuality; with sculptural forms and the intimacy and primacy of touch via velvet as skin. Like The Four Storied House, the work engages several registers: the performative, the visual, the political and the feminist; chronicling the present, as an act of marking time.
